After laptops officially appeared in 1988, people began to realize the need for a dedicated bag to protect and carry them. The American brand Targus, founded in 1982, keenly recognized this demand and became one of the earliest manufacturers specializing in laptop bags.

The global laptop bag market is steadily expanding, projected to reach RMB 19.17 billion by 2024 and RMB 23.78 billion by 2030, with a CAGR of 3.66% from 2024 to 2030. North America, Asia Pacific, and Europe are the main markets. At the same time, the market is demanding higher functionality and style from products, with innovations such as the use of environmentally friendly materials, waterproof designs, and smart laptop bags with added charging capabilities constantly emerging. Furthermore, it is predicted that the global laptop bag market will reach USD 2.8 billion in 2025 and is expected to surge to USD 10.3 billion by 2033, with a CAGR of 17.68% from 2025 to 2033. In recent years, environmental protection and sustainable development have become important trends in the industry. For example, brands like Targus have launched product lines made from environmentally friendly materials such as recycled plastic bottles and released annual sustainability reports. Meanwhile, new brands and design concepts have emerged in the market. For instance, in 2013, designer Fu Song, unable to find a laptop bag that combined practicality and minimalist aesthetics, hand-sewed his first emerald green leather laptop bag with his mother, thus founding the Songmont brand. Furthermore, Chinese domestic brands such as Summit (founded in 2001) have developed into comprehensive enterprises integrating R&D, design, production, and sales.
